Peronsonally I find it more strange that as a witness you're supposed to invite the unbeliving mate and associate with them (in order to win them over, but you're not supposed to associate with other "worldly" people....

Yet another guilt-inducing "Do-More" Watchtower article...
by Alfred innu-litetm: if youre in a wheel chair and have a speech impediment, you still have no excuse for not reporting field service hours every month.
so stop complaining, read the article below and start using your cell phone to send theocratic text messages.. .
from page 14 of the january 15, 2012 watchtower study edition.... .

And then people wonder why there are so many JWs that are on medication for depression and anxiety.

What if a Bible movie . . .
by NewChapter ingraphically and accurately portrayed bible accounts from other points of view?
let's face it, movies have a greater impact than books.
it pains me to say this since i like to pretend i can write, but that is just the way it is.

It would be an excellent idea. No JW would see it due to the graphic violence and the sex. Things that we are suppose to hate....

Today's Watchtower Lesson Really Bothered Me...
by dontplaceliterature ini was a hair away from telling my wife i never wanted to go to the kingdom hall again after today's watchtower.
the conductor mentioned something along the lines of..."if you think having to shun your disfellowshipped children is bad...you should read up on the israelites.
when one of their children was disobedient to the law, they had to take the before the judges so that they could be stoned to death...and guess who's job it was throw the first stone?".

The whole "he chose a sinful life instead of a relationship with his parents and Jehovah" feels a lot like a hostage situation. Do as we say or we'll make sure you'll never see your family again (said with a gun against your head). And all the JV's who readily give up all contact are probably suffering from Stockholm-syndrome....

Wives
by flying under the radar ini've been reading posts both here and on other pages about different brothers, both with a high position (like the gb and other bethel-heavies) and "ordinary" elders, and i've gotten a bit curious about their wives.
what are these women like?
for examples the wives of the gb.

As a JW Kid Were You Expected To Get Baptised By Your Parents/ Congregation
by Hairyhegoat inhere is a quote from a ex-jw about this subject, i myself had alot of pressure from my family to get baptised and finally gave in at 14, wish i had left them a present on the way out of the pool that floated..at the dudley assembley hall .
i can't justify my entire family (parents, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandma) and friends shunning me because i chose not to uphold a dedication i made at twelve years old.
sure it was my "choice" to get baptized.

I think that even if there is no outspoken preassure to get baptized, you still feel that there is an expectation of it.
I know I did at least. My parents and friends was never on me to get baptized, but I still felt the preassure
from the organization, since you only hear it a million times growing up.
Personally I don't think you should be able to get baptized until your old enough to get married.
You always hear that marriage is the second most important decision you can make.
Just think it's strange that you can make the most important decision (to get baptized) before you're mature
enough to make the second most important deciosion....

There is no reason not to pioneer when you are sick!!!!!!!!!!!!
by life is to short ini just stumbled across this and was flabbergasted it is from the november 1982 km.
" doing good to those with special needs ".
4 it is not unusual for those who are themselves in need to be among the first to respond to the needs of others.

Of course you should pioneer then. You don't have to work if you're on disability...
